Our Mission
Austin Groups for the Elderly is a non-profit organization empowering caregivers, the elderly and their families through education, advocacy, resources and support. We accomplish this mission through our four programs:

To help boost local philanthropy, the I Live Here, I Give Here campaign educates Central Texans about the many ways non-profits provide solutions to critical community issues. Show how "you give here" with a donation to Austin Groups for the Elderly.

CyberSeniors learn new technologies

Austin Groups for the Elderly's "Austin Computer Learning Center" delivers basic computer training and coaching to any older adult wanting to understand how computer technology can enhance their lives. By participating in our training courses, students learn to conquer their fears and embrace a new world at their fingertips. Our core training program offers a series of four classes and advancing curriculum designed to increase the students' computer skills and knowledge.

These classes are offered in a senior-friendly environment. Our state of the art lab, dedicated instructors and coaches, along with printed material for home reference, set us apart from other computer learning centers.

Classes are organized by skill levels and are geared to the interests of seniors. Learning is fun when it is paced and considerate of the needs of seniors. Unlike college classes, we have coaches ready to help - as many as one for every two students. Through one-on-one assistance and small classes, students can learn how to write letters, create spreadsheets for finances, download and email photos, use the Internet for resources, learn to shop and sell on EBay, and correspond with family and friends via email. iPhone and Facebook are two of the social media classes currently taught.

All of our classes are volunteer-taught and volunteer-managed by retired executives from IBM and other local technology companies, as well as former teachers and are offered at low cost to any older adult.

For current class schedules and information on registration, please visit the Austin Computer Learning Center website at www.austincomputer.org or call our ACLC Administrator in the AGE Office at (512) 451-4611 ext 232.
