A 62-year-old man is learning about email to stay
connected with distant relatives.
A 45-year-old woman is seeking guidance as a caregiver for her disabled father.
A 38-year
old man is finding an affordable space to house his new non-profit organization.
Founded in 1986, by two visionary and dedicated
leaders, Bert Kruger Smith and Willie Kocurek, Austin Groups for the Elderly is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization committed to providing
resources for our growing number of local seniors, adults with disabilities and those who care for them.
Our aim is to help middle
age generations prepare for their senior years and to embrace the journey without fear, and to provide seniors and caregivers with
the support they need to live their most vibrant lives.
We provide services through four interrelated programs:
Elderhaven
Adult Day Centers in both Austin and in Williamson County provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment for adults who need assistance
with daily living skills.
Our
Caregiver Resource Center (CRC), operated in collaboration with the Area Agency on Aging of the
Capital Area, provides equipment, information, education and consultation to caregivers and their families. The CRC's
community lending
closet provides durable medical equipment and supplies at no cost to the elderly and disabled.
Our
SeniorNet® Computer Learning
Institute is dedicated to teaching computer basics to older adults and others with limited access so that they can participate in
the learning of new technologies.
The historic
AGE Building provides centrally located, reasonably priced office space and
shared services to area not-for-profits.
